Baril “Douglas” MacGregor, 66 of Stellarton passed away November 28, 2021 in the QE II VG Site, Halifax, NS. Born in New Glasgow on October 19, 1955, he was a son of the late Arnold and Aileen MacGregor, Thorburn.
He is survived by his children Robert (Sue) MacGregor, Robin MacLeod, Victoria (Glen) McCarthy, Douglas (Emmy Falkenham) MacGregor; grandchildren Connor, Logan, Jamieson, Duncan. Alison, Clara and Madeline; siblings Pat (Robert) Marshall, David MacGregor, Rene Livingstone, Ellen (Melvin) Gilliam, Lorraine Weatherbie, Kenny (Theresa) MacGregor, Tracy MacGregor (Mike O’Sullivan); many nieces and nephews.

Born and raised in Thorburn, Dougie was a true family man. He enjoyed spending time with family whether it was a summer BBQ or a video chat with his kids.
He had a great sense of humour and was the king of one liners.
A carpenter by trade, he was employed by Dave Marshall’s Roofing & Siding. Doug was the go to guy for any fix it job that needed to be done. He never refused to help and there wasn’t a job he wouldn’t tackle.
Dougie loved his camp in Laggan where he spent as much time as he could. He especially enjoyed fishing and hunting and often told stories of his moose hunting trips to Newfoundland and the Cape Breton Highlands.
A celebration of Doug’s life will be held from 1-3 pm on Saturday, December 4, 2021 in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, 256 King Street, New Glasgow. Burial will follow in the Thorburn Cemetery.
Donations in memory of Doug may be made to Hope for Wildlife.
