We regret to announce the passing of Barbara J Nelson on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s. Barbara is survived by 4 sons: Don (Sina), David, Terry (Colleen) and Bruce (Karen); 2 nephews: Rob and Murrey; 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Barbara was predeceased by her parents Hilda and Harry Donald.
Barbara was an amazingly artistic and determined woman. She took up and succeeded at many hobbies including weaving, stain glass art, leather work, oil painting and wine making. Barbara took up downhill skiing at the age of 60 and enjoyed this sport for many years.
Barbara worked her way up in the fruit industry, eventually becoming manager of RH MacDonald Packing House in Vernon where she worked until retirement.
The family would like to thank the staff at Heron Grove Cabin 5 for their dedication and care of Barbara for the last 7 years. As well, thank you to Dr. Jeanette Henley for her care of Barbara throughout the years.
There will be no service by request. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society in Barbara’s name. Arrangements in care of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services in Armstrong.
