Avalon E. Owen, 92, of Moncton,
passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Sunday, July 18,
2021.
Born in Medicine Hat, Alberta,
she was the daughter of the late John and Eunice (Mayberry)
Castle.
Avalon was a retired secretary
at Blue Cross, Moncton, with 34 ½ years’ service.
She was a member of Mountain View United Church, UCW, member of the
Church Session, the Property Committee and served her church in
various other capacities over the years. Avalon was also a member of
the Westmorland Chapter I.O.D.E. and the International Association of
Administrative Professionals. She enjoyed travelling, knitting,
crocheting, reading, attending and working within her church,
volunteering at the Moncton Hospital for over 20 years and socializing
with her friends and spending time with
family.
Avalon will be sadly missed by
her children, Myrna Norman (David) of Maple Ridge, BC, Valerie Russell
of Moncton, Michael Owen (Mary) of Ontario and Nancy Morrissey (Allen)
of Moncton; grandchildren, Karen (Todd), Tami (Bryn), Sherry (Terry),
Jennifer (Rod), Jason (Cindy) and Heather (Del); great grandchildren,
Ty, Brandon, Travis, Jenna, Haley, Brett, Samantha, Griffin and
Zackery; brother, John Castle (Diana) of Moose Jaw, SK; sister,
Valerie Robertson of Calgary, AB as well as several nieces, nephews
and extended family members.
In addition to her parents, she
was predeceased by her husband, Clifford Owen (2006) and son-in-law,
Elliott Russell.
A
private family service will be held at Fergusons Funeral Home Chapel,
1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on SATURDAY,
AUGUST 7, 2021 at 11:00 am. Interment will be
at Fair Haven Memorial Gardens.
