Audrey Raines Monday March 1st 2021 avis de deces

It is with great sadness that the family of Audrey Raines announces her passing on Monday, March 1, 2021 at Concordia Place, Winnipeg. Born in East Kildonan on September 3, 1921, Audrey was the youngest daughter of the late Arthur and Ethel Brotheridge. Predeceased by her beloved husband Reverend H. John Raines STH on August 25, 1988, grandsons, David and Scott Hebert, son-in-law, Don Staples, two sisters, Marjorie and Vera, four brothers, Arthur, Harold, Edgar and Hugh, sisters-in-law Betty, Florence and Muriel Brotheridge and Anne and Nancy Raines, brothers-in-law William, James, Alexander and Edwin Raines.
Audrey was proud and amazed to live past her 99th birthday and lived in her own home until October 2020. In her early days she was actively involved in St. Stephen’s Anglican Church, particularly at St. Stephen’s Washington Avenue Mission. She was an active member of Holy Trinity Anglican Church and the ACW since 1960. The church was a very important part of her life and was missed so much when she was no longer able to attend services. Audrey combined her dedication to the Church and her love of children through her roles as a Sunday School teacher at the Washington Avenue Mission and the leader of many youth groups. She enriched the lives of many children and was a special and much-loved aunt to her nieces and nephew.
Audrey was an active member of Jephthah Chapter #22, Order of the Eastern Star and celebrated an incredible 80 years of faithful service in July 2020. Audrey was employed by the Hudson’s Bay Company Northern Stores Merchandise Depot in the Accounting Dept. for 26 years.
Audrey is survived by a very dear and much-loved family of three step-children, Georgina Staples, Margaret (Jerry) Lannoo, and John (Irene) Raines, 6 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren as well as many so very dearly loved nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.
Audrey requested the following acknowledgments: “A very special thank you to Chris Porter, a true friend, who did so much in so many ways and who was always there especially in times of emergencies or appointments. Thank you to Barbara Ewasko and Margaret Dickie for their many visits and their caring and supportive friendship. Thank you to the WHA River East Home Care workers who made it possible for me to stay in my own home for so long.”
Audrey’s family would like to thank the staff at Concordia Place for the kindness and care Audrey received during her stay there.
In lieu of flowers, if friends or family so desire, donations may be made to Holy Trinity Mission Ministry.
A private family service will be held at the Neil Bardal Funeral Centre on Monday, March 8. 2021 at 1:00pm. The service will be live-streamed and available to view on Audrey’s obituary page at www.neilbardalinc.com . It will remain available on the website to watch at a later date.
Audrey’s final resting place will be at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Ave., Winnipeg.
