It is with great sadness the family of Audrey Florence Pride (Bishop) age 79 of Dartmouth, announces her sudden passing on March 31, 2021. Born in Halifax, she was the daughter of the late Elizabeth (Rice) and Bill Bishop. She was predeceased by her brother Lenny Bishop(Phyllis, Ohio). She is survived by her husband of 59 loving years, Leonard, daughter Coleen (Colleen)Dartmouth, son Wayne (Tammy), granddaughter Ireland, and grandson Wyatt of Squamish, B.C., of whom she absolutely adored and were the love of her life.
Audrey lived a very full and amazing life. She had a smile and wisdom that put people at ease. She loved life and it showed. Volunteering was her passion. She was past president of the Dartmouth General Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, an original member of the Stardusters Square dance club, volunteered for the
G7 Summit of World Leaders in Halifax, she volunteered at every event held in the Halifax Metro Centre over the past 35 years, and she was the secretary for the Downeast Streeters non profit society that celebrated everything “Coronation Street”. During the last 20 years, she volunteered at the Halifax Stanfield International Airport as an airport ambassador greeting travellers from all over the world wearing N.S. Tartan. She had an excess of 4000 volunteer hours at the airport. Volunteering at the airport was very special. She was professional, reliable, pleasant and kind. Audrey also facilitated the TIANS super host program for several years and trained hundreds of airport employees.
She loved hockey and was a season ticket holder from 1984 (N.S. Voyageurs) to 2020 ( Halifax Mooseheads) at the Halifax Metro Centre and never missed a season. She was a fixture in Section 8 for 36 years. She opened her home to many players over those years, of whom many kept in touch when they became successful in the N.H.L. One even called her an hour after he won the Stanley Cup.
She enjoyed the north shore and time spent with family and friends at the cottage in Pictou County. She loved to dance, sing, volunteer and have fun. Her smile would light up a room when she walked in. Audrey was a second mother, grandmother and sister to many friends over the years. She will be forever missed by everyone who had the pleasure of spending time with her.
