Aubrey « Grant » Leslie
1956-2021
Aubrey « Grant » Leslie, of Canning,
died suddenly at home on August 9, 2021, at the age of 65.
Grant
was a proud Maritimer. His early childhood was spent in Cheticamp,
Cape Breton, then onto Wolfville and New Minas, where the family owned
and operated Leslie’s Red & White. From the age of
17, Grant was a professional musician, playing bass guitar with Matt
Minglewood for over 30 years, as well as with John Campbelljohn and
many others. In addition to being a musician, he was also the
self-proclaimed Plow King, owner of an ever-changing fleet of vehicles
– of which generally only one at a time was running. He had
a soft heart and a generous soul. And most of all, Grant’s
dry sense of humour was legendary. Grant is survived by his
brother, Frank (Theresa) of East Clifford; sisters, Judy (Bill) Zacher
of Parksville, BC, Isobel (Michael Graves) of Bridgewater and Barbra
of Toronto, ON. He was a very proud uncle to eight nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Aubrey and Donna, infant brother
Jonathan and sister Pamela. The family thanks the wonderful
staff and clients at Soldier’s Memorial Hospital, Middleton
and Crosbie House, New Minas as well as his many friends and their
unwavering support. In lieu of flowers, donations in
memory may be made to the Crosbie House Society or a charity of
choice. A celebration of life will be held at a later date to be
announced. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family
Funeral Home and Cremation Services,
Kentville.
Rock on, Grant. You
are greatly loved and missed.
