Munro, Arthur Enos
October 10, 1931 – September 9, 2021
Passed away peacefully with his family by his side on September 9th. Arthur in his 90th year, beloved husband and best friend of Virginia for 67 years. Loving father of Willa ( Wayne), Alan ( Wendy) and Susan (Pat). Special Poppa to James (Tasha), Kevin (Joanna), Brian, (Alison) Ashley, Cameron, Fallon & Cody and many special great grandchildren. Brother to surviving sisters Jean and Winnifred . Gone to rest with his late brothers and sisters.
After marrying his bride Gin in 1954 , they soon went out west to Alberta in 1955 where he first started in partnership in Plumbing and Heating with a business in both Alberta and British Columbia. Soon after, he obtained his pilot’s licence to travel between provinces. After selling his British Columbia practice, he maintained a very successful business in Drayton Valley, Alberta and kept his pilot’s licence to travel back and forth to Ontario to visit the families. In Drayton Valley, they raised their children and spent many happy weekends and holidays at their cottage at Lake Isle. Following a recession in 1981, they sold the business to “retire” in Ontario, having purchased his family homestead from the estate of his parents, and pursued his hobby of beekeeping. He soon started up the business again and he worked until he was in his mid 70’s before retiring . Arthur and Virginia , both very social and giving people, were very active in the Presbyterian Church and community, accumulating many friends that they visited and travelled with. He will be missed by many. Friends are invited to visit at St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, Kemptville on Monday September 20, 2021 from 10am until time of memorial service at 11am followed by interment at Oxford Mills Union Cemetery. Attendance for the visitation and service is limited and guests must register on this website using the link below this notice.
Special thanks to the Rosebridge Manor caregiving staff for the wonderful care given to Art over the past year.
Donations to St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, Veteran’s Affairs Canada, or Humane Society ( Art loved his pets) or any other charity of your choice gratefully accepted.
