Obituary of Arthur « Art » Lorne Hackbart
Arthur Lorne Hackbart passed peacefully of natural causes on Friday, January 22, 2021, in his 100th year at his home in The Village of Winston Park. Predeceased by his wife of 57 years Vera (nee Eydt). Sadly missed by his children Douglas (Marilyn) and Sandra (Grant), beloved grandfather of Julie, Christine (Joseph), Robert, Chad, and Todd (Stephanie) and great grandfather to Alexander and Maximus.
After returning as a veteran of W.W. II, Art spent 38 years as a Parts Manager for a Kitchener Ford dealership. He was a founding and active member of Reformation Lutheran Church in Kitchener. He loved to travel. An enthusiastic dancer, Art continued well into his 80’s. Woodworking was a favourite pastime and passion as evidenced by the multitude of his projects.
Arthur was born October 18, 1921 in Bamberg to Edwin Hackbart and Hilda (nee Duench). He is survived by Edward (Janet), Helen Berg, Gladys Hackbart and Ruby Thompson (Edward) and sister-in-law Margaret. Predeceased by his siblings Fred, Walter, Wilfred, Clayton, Vera Fischer, Florence Schmidt and Mildred Lantz.
