It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our mom, Anna Schafer. She quietly passed away on February 12, 2021 in Edmonton, AB. Anna was predeceased by her husband, Edward; parents, Michael and Berta Lewans; brother, Bernard; sister, Gertrude; and sons-in-law, Don and Keith.
She will be missed by her daughters: Colette, Bea, Nadine (Dennis) and Myra (Malcolm); sons, Michael (Clareen), Dan and (Tracy); eleven grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; sisters, Irma and Mary; brothers, Leo, Alphonse and George; as well as numerous relatives and friends.
Our mom was the first of her family to be born in Canada after her parents immigrated from Germany in 1926. She was born near Instow, SK. In 1928, the third of eight children. She attended Normal School in Moose Jaw, SK. Then taught at Pinto Creek School where she met our dad. They married in 1950.
They moved to Hazenmore, SK and within seven years had four daughters. The family moved to the farm one mile east of Hazenmore and two boys were born, making our family complete. Sadly, dad passed away in 1976 and mom stayed on the farm raising her young sons. Mom loved farm life and stayed until she was 77 years old, when health issues forced her to leave the farm. She stayed in Saskatchewan for a few years, then moved to St. Albert, AB where she had family.
We wish to thank the staff at Capital Care Dickensfield, Unit 3D for their incredible care they gave mom.
A private Funeral Liturgy will be held in St. Albert.
Mom will be laid to rest in Ponteix Parish Cemetery beside her husband. Rest in Peace Mom.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Anna Schafer nee Lewans 2021..
