Adele Van Caulart Friday August 27th 2021

It is with both sadness and joy that the family of Adele Van Caulart announces her passing this day, August 27, 2021.
It is sad to lose your mother but the family joy is in the knowledge that Adele, a passionate Christian, was fully aware of the promise of her faith and knew exactly what lay ahead for her. She is now bathed in the light of Christ her Lord and Saviour.
Catherine ADELE Burmester was born in the Quebec mountain village of Ste Jovite, October 14, 1934. Here she learned to ski by the age of three, ride on the sleigh pulled by the family dog Pal and swim in Lac Ouimet where her parents courted and father August built their home. She attended a one room school in the town, made many friends and learned to love the outdoors. In 1947 the family moved to Montreal where Adele attended high school and her parents opened their bakery business aptly named Kay’s Pastry after her mother Kathleen. It was a good life filled with visits to and from her mother’s sisters and brothers in Canada and England, celebrations large and small with the St Luke’s Anglican church family, outings with her cub and scout troupe. One hot and sultry summer Adele met the love of her life, Albert Laurence Van Caulart. They were married on June 16,1956. Then followed a big move to Gimli, Manitoba where Van (as he was called) was stationed in the Air Force. The young couple welcomed their first child, Peter the following May. Sixteen months later, in September Paul arrived. Adele was thrilled to have her own family and doted on her two little boys. Life wasn’t easy, but she was a skilled homemaker, seamstress and needlewoman and both her boys wore hand smocked rompers lovingly made by Mom. The family moved back to Montreal in 1959 where in May of 1961 they welcomed their third son William. Heidi, a much beloved daughter was born in August, 1963. The Van Caulart family was complete. A move to Pierrefonds, Quebec, then to the Toronto area of Ontario ended their wanderings. There they continued to explore their faith, make new friends, see their children marry and welcome grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Van passed in January 2013 and Adele carried on in her own inimitable way living on her own for the first time in her life while steadfastly supporting the church ministry she believed in so deeply. She is survived by her brother Richard and her children: Peter Laurence Dietrich. Paul August, William Thomas and Heidi Catherine. Grandchildren: Gavin, Bradley, Shaela, Jeremy, Joycelin, Levi, Amanda and Kyle. Great grandchildren: Spencer, Parker, Benjamin, Chase and Amber. Her friends, cousins, nieces and nephews both adopted and natural, and son-in-law and daughters-in-law all morn her loss but celebrate her life well lived.
Cremation has taken place and Adele will be interred with her husband and parents in the Lac Ouimet Cemetery in the summer of 2022 when family and friends will gather for a celebration of life. Donations may be made in her name to the Lac Ouimet Cemetery.
She flies on, praise the Lord.
