It is with great sadness to announce the sudden yet peaceful passing of Esperanza Villaverde on November 22nd, 2020 at the Jewish General Hospital, in Montreal, Quebec, at the age of 92. Esperanza, a sister, aunt and friend will be forever remembered for infectious smile and laughter that she shared with everyone around her.
Born in the Philippines to Gonzalo Villaverde and Eustaquia Malubay, she was a teacher for 14 years in her home country until she immigrated to British Columbia in 1967. There, she continued her teaching career at Silverthorne Elementary School in the city of Houston. After 25 years of service she retired and then in 2013, she decided to move to Montreal, Quebec along with her best friend.
She will be missed by her sister Norma Villaverde Andres, her many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends in the Philippines, United States, New Zealand, Ireland and Canada.
A private service will be held to celebrate her life.
Sincere thank you to the social workers, occupational therapists and nurses of CLSC René Cassin and the caregivers who provided their loving care and attention to her physical needs in the comfort of her home.
