Victor Cormier
1939 ~ 2020
Ste-Marie-de-Kent, NB – Victor Cormier, 80, devoted husband, dad, pépère, passed away peacefully at the Hospital in Ste-Anne-de-Kent, January 7, 2020 surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Ste-Marie-de-Kent, NB, he was the son of the late Hilaire and the late Ida (Boucher) Cormier.
In his early 20’s Victor moved to the United States. He married Lorraine there (also of Ste- Marie) and they had their son, Victor. In 1978 Victor followed his heart, bringing his family back to Canada. He worked almost 20 years at the DOT in Rexton. He was a wise man, and very driven.
Victor had a great love for his family and his church. He gave selflessly of his time to both.
His family is what gave him his greatest joy. His love and devotion for Lorraine was immeasurable, a beautiful example of commitment. His son Victor was his greatest pride, adad could not have been more proud of a son. And when Julie was born into the family, Pépère got his little “sweetheart”. He was the best pépère a girl could ask for.
Victor also enjoyed the many trips he and Lorraine were blessed to have taken. They traveled all over the world together. When they were not traveling, they enjoyed the peace and serenity of the river in Ste-Marie. Another thing that brought Victor happiness was getting together to enjoy a good family meal. Victor will be remembered for his wisdom and his kindness, his soft-spoken nature and a smile that made everyone around him smile as well.
Victor will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Lorraine (Nowlan); his son, Dr Victor Cormier (Dr Deborah Bowser) of Riverview; his granddaughter, Julie Cormier; his two sisters, Yolande Collette (Rhéal Després) of Cocagne and Aline Bergeron (late Andy) of Fitchburg, Mass; his brother-in-law, Aldérice Maillet of Irishtown and his sister-in-law, Alberta Cormier of Ste-Anne-de-Kent; his extended family, Clarence Nowlan of Ste-Marie, Jacqueline Nowlan of Bouctouche, Léonce Nowlan (Bernice) of Moncton, Richard Nowlan (Gisèle) of Ste-Marie, Michel Nowlan (Josephine) of Florida; also by several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Alfred and his sister, Laurise.
Visitation will be held at Notre-Dame du Mont-Carmel slumber room in Ste-Marie-de-Kent on Monday, January 13, 2020, from 1pm to 3:45 pm. Funeral service will be held at the Church at 4pm.
