Obituary of Timothy Falk
Timothy Dale Falk, of Niverville, MB., passed away on Wednesday, November 25, 2020, six days before his 41st birthday. He was born December 1, 1979, to Bernie and Lillian (Froese) Falk at Bethesda Hospital, Steinbach.
Tim had a difficult start in life. He struggled with sleep apnea as an infant and had his adenoids removed three times by 21 months. Once he recovered, he grew into an energetic boy.
After attending Niverville Elementary, Tim graduated from Steinbach Regional Secondary School in 2000. He enjoyed running with the Eastman Special Olympics track and snowshoe teams and cheering his brother Chad on at powerlifting competitions.
From an early age, Tim loved anything with an engine. As a toddler, he could remember what every key on every acquaintance’s key chain was for. In youth group, he was in charge of the bus keys and doors. On the farm, Tim drove truck across the field, hauled brush away in his John Deere Gator, and helped service equipment. Tim worked 20 years at Eastman Recycling in Steinbach, the last three as forklift driver. He loved being his dad’s copilot in their Cessna and giving his niece and nephew rides around the farm in his go-kart.
In 2006, he moved into a new house in the town of Niverville with Chad and their friend Mark Giesbrecht. Tim kept the house phone in a holster on his belt and his pockets stuffed with keys. But he returned home every weekend to enjoy his mom’s baking and putter with his dad. In recent years, Tim and his parents travelled together to Honolulu, Orlando, Las Vegas, Grand Forks, and San Diego.
Tim had a strong faith in Jesus. As a teen, he was baptized into Fourth Avenue Bible Church in Niverville. For the past three years, he attended Niverville Community Fellowship with his parents.
On September 29, 2020, Tim was diagnosed with liver cancer. His family is grateful for the care he received at the Health Sciences Centre stepdown unit and St. Pierre Hospital’s palliative care ward.
Tim brought people together. His birthday was one of the biggest family celebrations of the year that often included new family friends. He will be remembered for his gentleness, patience, kindness, and humour. Even when he was in extreme pain, he was concerned for the feelings of others.
Tim leaves to mourn his parents Bernie and Lillian Falk of Niverville, his brother Chad Falk of Niverville, his sister Angeline (Tony) Schellenberg of Winnipeg and their children Kieran and Gemma, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
