Theresa E. « Betty »
Burns, 78, of K. E. Spencer Memorial Home, passed away peacefully at
her residence on Thursday, February 27,
2020.
Born in Stellarton, Nova
Scotia, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Gertie
(MacDougall) Trott.
Betty was retired from CIBC on
Mountain Road with 30 years’ service, attended St.
Augustine’s Roman Catholic Church and was a member of the
Church Choir. She volunteered at K. E. Spencer Memorial Home over the
years. Betty had a real green thumb and she enjoyed being outdoors,
gardening and attending her grandsons many sporting events, where she
was their biggest cheerleader.
Betty will be sadly missed by
her daughter, Lorraine Burns (Stephen Marshall) of Moncton and
grandchildren, Nicholas LeBlanc (Kelsey MacDonald) and Christopher
LeBlanc; brother-in-law, Bill Nearing, as well as several nieces,
nephews and extended family members.
In addition to her parents,
she was predeceased by her husband, Jim Burns (2002) and sister, Mary
Nearing.
Visitation at Fergusons
Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Sunday from
6:00 to 9:00 pm. Funeral Mass to celebrate and honour
Betty’s life will be held from St. Augustine’s
Roman Catholic Church, Dominion Street, on Monday, March 2, 2020 at
11:00 am, with Rev. Angus Johnston presiding. Reception in the Parish
Hall following Mass. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery
in the spring.
