Thelma Lee
Born on the farm at Merid, Saskatchewan to Stephen and Tessie(Theresa) Kolbinson, on June 7, 1924. The family moved to Kindersley shortly thereafter, to homestead. Thelma had four siblings, Stuart, Margaret, Jeanne and Lauren. Thelma attended the one room Tantallon School, before going off to finish high school at the St Joseph’s Convent in Rosetown Sask. Thelma graduated the University of Saskatchewan with a major in History. After obtaining her education, Thelma went on to open a Ladies Wear Store, in Unity , Saskatchewan with her sister and partner Jeannie. It is in Unity , where Bob Lee, who was home from WWII, spotted Thelma and began courting her. They were married, November 4, 1944, and were married sixty five years before Bobs passing. Bob and Thelma obtained farmland north of Kindersley, and got to work building a family. Thelma had five children, Carol, Sharon, Bonnie, Stephen and Lori. Thelma’s home was always a beehive of activity. Five children and all their activities kept her hopping. Thelma always had a sewing project on the go, be it a figure skating costume or a wardrobe for one of the kids. Thelma was very much involved in her community, with Legion Ladies, CWL, Hopedale Ladies Club, Girl Guides, political campaigns, and canvassing for Diabetes society. Thelma had a great love for music, there was always a variety of instruments around the house and her HIFI player was stacked with albums at all times. She loved to entertain, which often involved dancing and singalongs by the piano. Thelma made several trips to New York with her father, on violin business. She very much enjoyed those times with “Pappa”. Thelma picked up the game of golf in her fifties, and that became a passion and lifestyle for many years. They purchased a little pad in California on a golf course, where they wintered for the next twenty plus years. They made many friends in that community. However the greatest joy of all to Thelma were her children and the grandchildren. Family times at the cabin at Jackfish Lake, the road trips with the grandchildren, the family celebrations, all so very special to her. Thelma was predeceased by Bob Lee, Carol (Lee) Brausen, Sharon (Lee) Packman, Stephen Kolbinson, Theresa Kolbinson, Stuart Kolbinson, Margaret Kolbinson, Jeanne Omness (Kolbinson), Lauren Kolbinson Left to mourn her passing, are : Bonnie Klettke, Stephen and Colleen Lee, Lori and Neal Benson; Roger Brausen; Bob Packman Grandchildren: Bob Brausen ( Corinne); Venisa ( (Brausen) Del)) Garner; Julie((Klettke) Chris)) Nicolson; Bart (Sharlene) Packman; Gord Packman; Meghan Lee, Casey Lee; Sara ( (Benson) Dan) Graham; Jason (Stacy )Benson Great grandchildren: Kelsey and Shea Garner, Reece and Avery Packman , Nichol and Brandy Packman, Bennett and Elliott Graham Many nieces and nephews and extended family members.
