Terry’s Obituary
The family of Terry L. MacDonald, age 70, of Port Howe, NS are devastated to announce his death on September 21st after a recent diagnosis of a malignant brain tumour. He passed away in North Cumberland Memorial Hospital, Pugwash, peacefully surrounded with love from his wife and son. He was born in Pugwash, son of the late Russell MacDonald and Jeanne (Black) MacDonald, Amherst. He grew up in Oxford and spent his working life mainly living in Cole Harbour. He drove truck for Bolands IGA, Imperial Oil, Shell, Coastal, Seaboard & Atlantic Industrial and Magoo’s Trucking, loving every mile with his favourite rock tunes playing. He loved spending time with his family and many friends. He enjoyed the hockey years in Cole Harbour while Mark was growing up and was involved in many positions at CHBA Minor Hockey. He loved life at the cottage and after retirement loved the time spent in Florida for the winters and summers at the beach here in NS. He loved the gatherings and cruise nights spent with the guys and all drives in his 1953 restored Ford truck were special to him. He also loved driving his 1999 Chevy S10 and really anything with wheels. He loved the Detroit Red Wings and naps on any sandy beach after a nice swim. He enjoyed good food and no one enjoyed and savoured to the last bite most any kind of pie; he said if he had bacon and pie on the same day it was a perfect day. Terry is survived by his wife of 49 years, Jennifer (Black) MacDonald, Port Howe; his only cherished child, son, Mark (Meaghan) and three adored grandchildren, Tessa, Tucker and Tatum, all of Saskatoon, SK; brother, Andy (Darlene), Moncton; nieces, Sarah and Kelsey; uncle, James (Irene) Black, Truro; numerous cousins. He was also survived by Jennifer’s family, Valerie (Wendell) Patriquin, Tumbler Ridge, BC; Carol Black and Howard Black (Carolyn Cochrane), both of Oxford; and all their children who he thought the world of. He was predeceased by a brother, Keith, at a young age; brother-in-law, Vaughan (Trudie). A sincere thank you to the wonderful caring staff at 7.3 Neurosurgery Halifax Infirmary and the Palliative Care staff and Dr. Brian Ferguson at North Cumberland Memorial in Pugwash for their excellent care; he said he was in the best place. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday, September 24 in MacDiarmid’s Funeral Home & Crematorium, 5075 Main Street, Oxford (902-447-2930). As per his request, a private committal will take place at a later date. If so desired donations in his memory to North Cumberland Community Health Foundation or Pine Grove Cemetery. Online condolences can be shared with the family by visiting www.mmcfunerals.com. He died as he lived, humbly, bravely, ever thinking of us and grateful for his 70 years. He wanted everyone to know how much he appreciated all the phone calls, messages and visits offering love and support. Forever loved and missed. “Can’t Drive 55”
