La célébration de
Suzanne Helen McAllister (nee Gloster)
11 janvier 1942 –
6 avril 2020
Suzanne passed away on April 6, 2020. Devoted partner of Henry McGuirk. Loving mother of Angela (Anthony), Sheila (Billy), Daniel (Laurie-Jane), and Mary Kathryn (Claus). Cherished Nana of Arianna, Ella, Hanna, Liam, Josephine, Olivia, Leva, Neve, Frances, and Samantha.
Much loved sister of Bernard, Gayle (Frank), Michael (Kathy), Martha Jane, Maureen (John), Theresa (David). Beloved aunt to her many nieces and nephews. Adored friend to many.
Suzanne lived a wonderful life, full of love for her family and many dear friends.
Mom was a vibrant and dedicated educator with the DPCDSB for 39 years, and in that process she changed the lives of many students.
Mom lived her social justice values and was constantly finding new ways to engage in the world. She co-founded SOTAS (Save Our Trees and Streams) in 1973; much of the green space in Mississauga is due to their efforts. Retirement was spent volunteering, and many were recipients of her care. To that end, she was active with Toronto East End Welcome Project, the Bethany Baptist Food Bank, Out of the Cold, and the Toronto International Microfinance Summit. She was very active politically, involved in all things Liberal.
Mom was an arts enthusiast who visited her favourite galleries (Patel and AGO) regularly and she relished small, intimate plays. Mom loved reading, chatting, debating, learning, nourishing others, sharing meals and celebrating. Most of all she loved us and we knew it.
Mum was a glowing force of light and we will all miss her deeply.
When possible, we will celebrate Suzanne’s beautiful life together.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Out of the Cold or your local homeless shelter.
