Susan

Obituary of Susan Hryb
It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Susan Marie Hryb on Thursday, December 17, 2020. Susan passed peacefully with her daughters by her side after a hard fought, yet brief battle with endocarditis and multiple other infections while in intensive care.
She is survived by her daughters Jennifer, Rachel, and Melissa and her sons-in-law Jason, Allen, and Jason. Gran will be forever missed by her six grandchildren Nicholas, Addison, Liam, Ava, Stevie, and Jack. She will be lovingly remembered by her sisters, numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews, and her special group of friends.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband Steve, mother Helen, father Ben, mother-in-law Nellie, father-in-law Sam, brother Richard, brothers-in-law John and Remi, and numerous other close family members and friends.
Susan was the first-born child to Helen and Ben Kamke in 1953. She was a caring and loving older sister to her 5 younger siblings Connie, Debra, Judy, Richard, and Lorraine. She grew up in Libau on the family farm where she spent numerous hours helping with the animals, tending to the garden, and taking care of her siblings.
She met the love of her life, Steve, at a local dance at age 16. They got engaged at her high school graduation and married a year later. Susan and Steve spent their first years of marriage living up north in Jenpeg and Gillam while Steve worked at the hydro generating stations. They later moved back to Winnipeg and eventually purchased their family home in Niverville where Susan still lived. Together they created a life dedicated to raising their three daughters, built on strong family values and hard work. Susan’s career included working at the local video store and a few restaurants, where she was able to enjoy time interacting with her co-workers.
Susan was full of joy and life, she was kind and selfless, and had a wicked sense of humor. She devoted all her time to her family, friends, and her beloved church. She was an integral part of the Niverville United Church where she volunteered endless hours on committees, crocheting prayer shawls, and lending a hand in the day-to-day activities of the church. She was so proud to be regular blood donor and she recently completed her 51st blood donation. She dedicated her life to taking care of others by visiting, taking people to appointments, being a listening ear, and guiding others through difficult times. Nothing made her happier than a visit from her grandkids, a coffee date with friends, a backyard bonfire, a quality brand of rum or shots of fireball.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the amazing staff at the Intensive Care Unit at Health Sciences Center in Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, if you are able, please roll up your sleeve and give the gift of life by donating blood in honor of Susan at Canadian Blood Services.
Susan was taken from this earth too soon; it breaks our hearts that she was taken so unexpectedly. Her memory will never leave us and live long in our hearts.
