Sheldon’s Obituary
NICKERSON, Sheldon Garth – 82, Woods Harbour, passed away Thursday, October 29, 2020 at The Meadows in Yarmouth surrounded by his family. He was born December 15, 1937 in Woods Harbour, to the late Keith and Rosie (Perry) Nickerson, where he lived his entire life. Sheldon started lobster fishing at an early age and continued until his retirement and although he no longer went fishing he kept very busy building pots, mending nets or anything else that needed to be done. Sheldon was also one of the founding members of the Woods Harbour Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed word puzzles, watching Jeopardy, listening to music and lots of family visits. Sheldon is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Marie (Ross) Nickerson; his sons, Kirby (Lorna), Derek (Dawn), Timothy (Bette); daughter, Shellemarie (Kevin); grandchildren, Jason, Justin, Jonathan, Chanah, Bethany, Timothy, Charity, and Brett; 11 great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; and sister, Ethel (Russell) Nickerson. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Kempton, Leighton, Roger; sisters, Belle, Elizabeth, Beverly, and Julie. Arrangements are under the care and direction of H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Barrington. A funeral service will be held at the Calvary United Baptist Church, Woods Harbour on Monday, November 2, at 2 p.m. Due to Covid-19 restriction, seating may be limited to 150 people and social distancing guidelines must be followed (Immediate family will be given priority for seating). Pastor Phil Williams officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the Ocean View Christian Academy, Rosalin Nickerson Care Fund or any charity of choice.
