Obituary
Obituary of Sharon Ann Campbell, Scotchtown
It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of our precious mother, wife, sister, and grandmother, Sharon Ann Campbell, 70,
surrounded by family at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, March 5, 2020 after a short battle with cancer.
Born in New Waterford, she was the daughter of Ambrose and Margaret (Kennedy) MacNeil.
Sharon’s kind and nurturing nature lead her to a career as a CNA with her passion helping sick children in paediatric wards. She had given up her nursing career early to create a happy and loving home with her husband, Jerry, for their three daughters.
Surviving are her husband, Jerry Campbell; children, Kelly Campbell (Eddie), Lingan, Cathy Campbell (Keith), Scotchown,
Glenda Corbett, New Victoria; sisters, Chris Gallant (Jim), Ontario, Eleanor Gillis (Butch), Victoria Mines; grandchildren, Alex, Ava, Jacklyn, Quintin and Liam; one nephew and several nieces.
Sharon was beautiful inside and out. She dedicated her life to her family and never asked for anything in return. For her family, she was a shoulder to lean on, a shoulder to cry on and a never ending source of laughter and smiles. She was happiest while spending time with her
family, especially her grand babies.
Besides her parents, Sharon was predeceased by her sister, Karen MacNeil; in-laws, Francis and Katie Campbell, and son in-law, Ralph Corbett.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass of celebration will be held on Wednesday, March 11 at 1 p.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue, with Father Ray Huntley officiating. A luncheon will follow at V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford. Donations in her memory can be made to the Hospice/Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton. Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at: www.vjmcgillivray.ca.
The family would like to thank the nurses at New Waterford Consolidated Hospital for their kindness shown during her time spent there. Also, the Doctors, Nurses, and volunteers at the An Cala Palliative Care Unit for the care and kindness shown to our beloved mother at the end of her journey.
