GOULDEN, Darrell Lovitt ~ Age 80, of Aylesford, Kings Co., passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 5, 2020, at home. Born on October 1, 1939, in Shelburne, he was a son of the late Elmer and Hilda (Perry) Goulden. Darrell had attended the Halifax School for the Deaf from 1945-58. He had worked for Shelburne Coast Guard and Berwick Register Newspapers as well as Berwick Bakery and Wheaton’s Furniture Building. Darrell was a kind soul who loved to laugh and joke with friends and family. He enjoyed watching sports, especially the Chicago Blackhawks, Toronto Raptors and Blue Jays. Darrell enjoyed the company of the deaf community and often travelled to play darts, bowling and curling. Surviving are his wife of 44 years, the former Mary A. Barter; sons, Jonah (Deanna) and Samuel (Veronica) Goulden; granddaughter, River Mae Goulden; brother, Charles Goulden; niece, Shawna Goulden; nephews, Trent and Richard Goulden. There will be no visitation. A service in celebrating Darrell’s life will take place at a later date. Donations may be made to Canadian Red Cross Society. The family would like to say a special thank you to the amazing people from V.O.N., nurses and doctors at Valley Regional and Soldiers’ Memorial Hospitals, E.M.S. and Dr. Christina Mercer for their great care during his illness.
