In Celebration of

Anna Congrady

June 10, 1927 -  December 23, 2020

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear wife and mother Anna at home in her 94th year. Loving wife of Joseph of 61 years. Beloved mother of Craig (Christine) and Patricia Congrady. Dear sister-in-law of Mary (the late Milan) Madunicka. Cherished aunt of Thomas (Libby) Pokoradi, Robert (Catherine) Pokoradi, Richard Pokoradi, Dennis (Maryann) Pokoradi, Milan Madunicky, and Alena. Anna will be reunited in Heaven with her parents John and Mary (Kalapos) Timkovich, and her sister Mary (Paul) Pokoradi.

Anna was born in Vysne Nemecke, Slovakia June 10, 1927. At age 10, she emigrated to Canada with her mother and sister to join her father in Hamilton. She helped her family in any way she could, even winding transformers at Westinghouse. Anna had fond memories with her aunt, uncle and cousins on the farm in Rockton. In 1959, she married and moved to Flamborough to start her family. Anna was an avid flower and vegetable gardener all her life, even up to this past summer. She will be lovingly remembered for her 60 years of devotion in her service to the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Slovak Byzantine Catholic Church. Anna was very active in Hamilton's Slovak community, working tirelessly to promote Slovak culture through her talents as a seamstress, creating elaborate traditional costumes for the Hamilton Dunaj Dancers, and in the kitchen for her outstanding work over many fundraising efforts.

Memorial contributions may be made to Diabetes Canada or her church and would be appreciated by her family. In adherence of the current government safety directives, private arrangements are entrusted to Bay Gardens Funeral Home, Burlington.

Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul and all the souls of the faithfully departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
