Death notice
With sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Rudy Lewkoski on Sunday, December 20, 2020. Rudy is survived by his wife of 60 years, Patricia, sons Randy (Mary), Dan (Jeanne), Ken (Janice), grandchildren Meghan, Michael, Matthew, Selia, Briana, Adam, Melinda and Andrew, great-grandchildren Dustin, Joshua, Nico and Ada, brothers Glen and Ed, sister Ione, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Rudy is preceded by his parents Clem and Pearl and his brother Donny and sister Gloria.
Rudy was born March 30, 1939 in a log cabin in Jellicoe Northern Ontario. He started working at the age of 14 as a delivery boy for West’s General Store in Geraldton. He then followed his older brother Glen to Manitouwadge where he got his start in stationary engineering at GECO mines. In 1966 he came to Midland to work for RCA. When RCA closed he stayed with the building working for Mitsubishi, then Bay Mills and the Regional Centre in Orillia. He was a member and chairperson and involved in the formation and building of Holy Cross Lutheran Church. He took great pleasure in ringing the bell every Sunday when St. Mark’s and Holy Cross joined together.
Rudy loved a family gathering where the highlight would be telling stories of the old days with his children and grandkids glued to his every word.
His family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff of GBGH.
The family requests in lieu of flowers donations be made to GBGH or St. Mark’s Anglican/Lutheran Church.
