Obituary
The family of Roy Darbyshire, of Kindersley and formerly of Hudson Bay, SK sadly announce his passing on Thursday, November 5, 2020 at 91 years of age.
Roy was born in Hudson Bay, SK on February 20, 1929, one of eight children born to Anne and John Darbyshire. On August 1, 1957, Roy was united in marriage to Norma Mondor and celebrated 63 years of life together. They raised their two sons, Mitch and Scott, in Hudson Bay.
Roy was a man of many talents which he displayed in both his professional and personal life. His career was focused in the lumber industry working at Saskatchewan Timber Board and Wisewood which later transitioned into MacMillan Bloedel. There, Roy retired at the age of 62 as a senior production foreman. In 2010, Roy and Norma moved to Kindersley, SK to be closer to family.
Roy was an avid outdoorsman and held a strong passion for nature and trapping. After retiring, he developed a remarkable talent of craftmanship with taxidermy. His other hobbies include camping, hunting, fishing, gunsmithing, carpentry and spending time at their cabin at Kipabiskau Lake. Roy will always be remembered as a kind and loving husband, father, and grandfather who spent many hours with his children and grandchildren carving wood creating special masterpieces and memories. His laughter and sense of humor will forever remain in our hearts.
Roy is predeceased by his sisters, Muriel, Elsie, Anna Mae, and Deanna; brothers John and Victor. Roy leaves to cherish his memory with his wife Norma, brother Edgar of Hudson Bay, SK, sons Mitch of Kindersley and Scott (Rhonda) of Saskatoon; grandchildren Briana (Frederick), Tara (Dave), Brett, Jordan (Janine), Brenton and Regan; eleven great-grandchildren, as well as numerous relatives and good friends.
Cremation arrangements in care of Kindersley Funeral Home.
A celebration of Roy’s life will be made at a later date.
