September 4th, 1955- November 16th, 2020
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of this amazing and strong woman.
On September 4th, 1955 Rosemary was born to Iris and Alan Herrick in Madras, India. She spent her first 7 years of life in India as her parents were Methodist Missionaries. Rosemary moved to England in 1962 where she frequently said her parents had a hard time taming her and she would climb trees, skirt along fences, sit on rooftops and run around without shoes on.
Rosemary touched many lives throughout her career as an educational assistant. She was always calm and knew what to do in every situation. She was willing to get on the ground to help a student in need or learn a new skill to connect with those she worked with.
Rosemary loved her family and they were always her first and foremost thought. Whether it was camping, walking, being outside with her grandchildren or making tea and baking for everyone who stopped by, Rosemary always made time for those she loved. She will be fondly remembered for baking, gardening, exploring the island and her reflective gear as she rode her e-bike everywhere; she loved the great outdoors.
She will be remembered and dearly missed by her husband John, her sons Andrew (Shelby) and James, and daughter Clare (Allan). Gramma leaves behind 4 grandchildren: Sarah, Megan, Violet and Max. Rosemary is survived by her Mom, Iris, brother, Kenneth (Tracy), sister, Ruth (Graham) and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
As tragic as losing Rosemary has been, we take solace in knowing that her final gift to the world was being an organ donor, she was a hero and a part of her will be living on.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Her grandchildren have been avid fundraisers for the Heart and Stroke Foundation and are honoured to continue on this legacy. support.heartandstroke.ca/goto/RosemaryCarter
