Obituary for Mr. Robert Barnett
It is with great sadness that we share the peaceful passing of Robert (Bob) Barnett on Tuesday, February 25 at the age of 90 in the comfort of his room at Creedan Valley Care Community in Creemore. Son of Robert and Agnes, he is predeceased by his wife Louise (Kaspurz) Barnett and his son, Norman Barnett. He is survived by his son Ron Barnett and daughter-in-law Barbara Pearn, his grandson Taylor Barnett, granddaughter Sean Barnett and her husband Graham Dalziel, as well as his younger sister Margaret Griffin, nephew Gary Griffin and niece Lesley Griffin-Lanchbury.
Bob was born and raised in Glasgow, Scotland before moving to Canada in the 1950s where he eventually began a long and successful career as a Becker’s store manager. He was well-loved by his customers in Aurora and Newmarket. He was also a proud veteran of the British Army, stationed in Austria following WWII, where he met and fell in love with his wife of 54 years. Together, they made a happy life for themselves and their family in Canada.
He will be forever remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. Bob loved to laugh and be with his family. He was a friend to everyone who met him and was well-liked by the staff at his long-term care facility. In his final years, he dearly missed his beloved wife, who passed away 15 years before him.
There will be a come-and-go Celebration of Life at the Flesherton Public Library, 101 Highland Dr., Flesherton from 2-4pm on Sunday, March 15.
