Obituary for Rev. Richard John Green
Reverend Richard, (Dick) John Green of Oshawa, Ontario, in his 87th year, passed away on Friday, October 2nd, 2020 of complications due to dementia.
Dick was born in Cornwall, ON on July 1st, 1934. After high school, he attended and graduated from Eastern Pentecostal Bible College, Peterborough, ON.
Dick was married to Wanda, Vera Anna Green (nee: Stevenson) of Kinburn, ON on October 1st, 1955, and they were married 60 years.
Richard, (Dick), with Wanda by his side, pastored churches in Goderich, Orangeville, Wallaceburg, London, Barrie, Brantford and Oshawa, ON. After leaving pastoral ministry Dick served as assistant to the District Superintendent of Eastern Ontario & Nunavut District of the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada for seven years caring for Developing Assemblies and Ethic Churches.
Dick is survived by his children: Steve Green (Debra) of Griffith, ON, Debbie Edwards (John) of Fergus, ON Mark Green (Jennifer) of Oshawa. Grandchildren: Jordan Green (Elisa), Candace Green-O’Leary (Jamie), Adam Edwards, Eric Edwards, Sarah Edwards (Colin) Great Grandchildren: Chet, Hunter, Ellie & Eamon.
Dick is preceded in death by his parents: Frederick Green and Frieda Green (nee: Nevison), spouse Wanda, Brother: James Green, Sister: Dorothy Thom.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am. Saturday, October 17th, 2020 at King Street Community Church, 611 King St W, Oshawa ON L1J 2L1. Visitation will be held at the same address on Friday, October 16th, 2020, from 2 – 4;00 pm & 7 – 9:00 pm. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, pre-registration of attendance is required at www.eventbrite.ca/e/memorial-service-for-rev-richard-green-tickets-124594857573 Face Masks, social distancing and hand sanitizing will be required and observed.
