Obituary
Randy Gordon, of Lacombe AB, left us dancing into the sky on March 30th, 2020 at the age of 64. Surrounded by the immense love and support of his family, who could not be by his side and the loving presence of his son, Clay. He was the most supportive and proud father of his two children and their spouses: Kali Gordon and Steven Ratley of Healdsburg, CA and Clay and Lyndsey Gordon of Lacombe, AB. Affectionally know as “Grampa Randy” he is already dearly missed by his three beautiful grandkids, Paxton, Maverick and Hayzley. He also holds a special place in the hearts of Dianne and Ron Ford.
Along with his immediate family, Randy will always be lovingly remembered by his mother Mavis, his brothers Don and Rick and sister-in-law Linda and sisters, Della, Linda and Susan and their families. Holding many fond memories are his ‘Silzer’ in laws and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his Father, Richard (Rick).
Randy was born on Sep. 5th, 1955 in Lethbridge, AB. Growing up in Brandon, MB he spent his younger years watching over his sisters, working alongside his dad and brothers in the family business and dancing up a storm. His professional career consisted of 20+ years in the jewelry business as a talented and creative goldsmith. In 1997 he changed careers and a work accident in the oil patch would change his life forever. He would go on to survive a year in the hospital before returning home to Kindersley, SK and would continue to make it through many more health challenges and adversities. In 2013 Randy moved to Lacombe, AB to be closer to his son Clay and his family. The highlight of his last years were spending time with his grandkids, going for ice-cream on the perfect sunny day, to NHL games with Clay, family Christmases, escorting his princess down the aisle and dancing the night away at her wedding.
Although he carried himself in a broken body for 23 years his spirit was as brilliant as the symbol he loved most, a diamond. He referred to himself as energy on wheels, and that he was. His perseverance, will to live and enduring spirit in the most challenging of times, should be a shining example to all of us.
A Celebration of Life will be planned in the coming months.
