R. Fraser Potter, CD
R. Fraser Potter, 89, of
Moncton, passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on July 29,
2020.
Born in Springhill, NS, he was
the son of the late Archie and Pearl (Fraser)
Potter.
Fraser was formerly employed
with McColl Frontenac Oil (Texaco) for 32 years in Moncton and Sydney,
NS. as Sales Supervisor and District Manager covering various areas in
the Atlantic Provinces. After retirement from Texaco, he sold real
estate for 20 years and was Past President of the Greater Moncton Real
Estate Board.
He was a member of First Baptist
Church Moncton since 1948, a member of the Senior Choir and served on
the Church Board of Deacons.
Fraser was a Colonel and
Commander of Eastern New Brunswick Militia District and also commanded
32 (M) Service Bn as L/Col, and in total served over 28 years in
Militia, including Sigs Sqn, 64 LAA Regt, 2 RNBR (NS), 2 Bn NSH (CB),
21 Tech Sqn RCEME.
He was Past National President
of the RCEME Association and a member of the Moncton Legion Branch #6
and Riverview Veterans and Armed Forces Association; member of the
Moncton Probus Club, Keith Lodge #23 F & AM, Philae Temple
(Shriners), Halifax, North-West Commercial Travel Association and
former member of Chapter & Preceptory in
Sydney.
Fraser will be sadly missed by
his wife, Marjorie (Milburn) Potter, to whom he was married for 70
years; daughter, Jean Potter of Quebec; sons, Robert F. Potter
(Heather) of Montreal and David Potter (Cathy Orr) of Toronto;
grandchildren, Carrie McGinn (Hugo), Caitlin McGinn (Aaron),
Christianne McGinn (Joseph), Caleb McGinn, Jennifer (Potter) Tyo
(Eric) and Christopher Potter (Leah); great-grandchildren Maeve,
Theia, Ryley and Viviane, sisters-in-law, Sandra Easton and Elizabeth
Potter as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family
members.
In addition to his parents, he
was predeceased by sisters, Elaine Mont (late Bill) and Lois Whitman
(late Harry) and brother, Joseph Potter. Fraser was the last surviving
member of his immediate family.
Fraser lived his life with
integrity, initiative and conscientiousness, motivated by love for his
family and God and respect for all he met.
Thanks to Dr. Gallant, Dr.
Leblanc, Dr. Roberge and Dr. Charest, the teams on 5100 unit and
palliative care at Moncton Hospital for the compassionate care they
provided to Fraser and his family.
A memorial service is being
arranged. Interment will be in Elmwood
Cemetery.
Arrangements entrusted to
Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton
(858-1995).
