QUINN DAVID VALGARDSON
August 18th, 1973 – December 6th, 2020
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a very strong and courageous man who lost his battle with Type One Diabetes.
Quinn will be forever remembered by his mom and dad, Dodie and Norm, brothers Jeff (Marilyn) and Shane, his sisters Michelle (Tyler) and Mandi (Dave). Also remembering Quinn are his nieces Recene (Jason), Raven, Sadie, Destiny and Cassandra (Eri); nephews Tyson, Colby (Janine), Nik (Amey), Theo, Johannes, Andrew (Kerry) and Luke (Shannon) along with many great nieces and nephews, Aunts, Uncles and cousins.
Quinn was predeceased by his brother Brad and his brother Scot, Fiancé Corinne, grandparents Katherine and Joe Syczylo, Gordon Stark, and Rose and Jack Dixon.
Quinn was diagnosed at the age of 7 with Type One Juvenile Diabetes, and he never let it affect him or his life. He was a Kitchen Manager at Boston Pizza up until losing his vision. He taught himself how to live without sight and used his computer to counsel others who were losing their sight. He lived many years on his own it was only in the last 10 years as his health declined, he had to move back home, where he worked endlessly on his recipes for his cookbooks. If you ever needed a recipe or tips on cooking, he was more than willing to share. Quinn always had jokes or riddles to tell and was a very good storyteller.
No matter how many times he was knocked down he got back up. You can rest now dear Quinn you fought a great battle, and we will miss you very much.
On behalf of the family we want to thank Lisa and Sue from the Gimli Dialysis Unit, Paula and Darlene from Home Care, Larry and Bruce from Gimli Handi-Van for all their care and support over the years. Thank you to Neil Bardal Funeral Centre and Mona for all your help, love, and support.
In accordance with Quinn’s wishes a private Celebration of Life will take place at a future date.
Quinn always had to have the last word. So, from Quinn, “Yeh, OK See Ya Later.”
