Born in North Harbour, Placentia Bay and moved with her family to Grand Falls – Windsor when she was 12 years old. As a young woman moved to St. John’s for work and trained to become a hair stylist. Shortly after finishing her training she moved to Toronto to complete an advanced training skills and styling course.
Phyllis later moved back home where she became a talented hair stylist and business woman. She was an avid cook, loved to bake and made beautiful blankets that will be always treasured. She was a gifted piano player and was the church pianists/organist for years in Toronto and Grand Falls and volunteered her musical skills at the Golden Years and the Carmelite Senior Citizen Homes. Phyllis was faithful to her church and loved her God. She loved animals; especially her cherished cats and was a volunteer at the SPCA for many years.
