Dad married our Mom on August 16, 1953 and moved to Saskatoon where they started their family. The first 3 children were born there.
Dad worked at various jobs but his job as a delivery man at McGavins was his main source of income. In 1961 Dad made a life changing decision that impacted all of us and that was to follow Jesus Christ.
The next year we moved to an acreage just outside of Dalmeny. The youngest two children were born here. The farm was a lot of work but he never shied away from any of it. In 1975 the farm was sold and we moved into town. Dad eventually became the town maintenance man which led to the honour of a street being named after him. Fittingly it was a service road.
Dad saved his favourite job for last. He became an auctioneer and loved it! Even after retiring from this job, he continued to volunteer as an auctioneer at MCC, YFC and other charitable organizations. He always had a joke or story to tell. When he wasn’t working, he was fishing. He had great friends that he fished with and was anticipating an amazing reunion in Heaven with his fishing buddies.
This past October we celebrated Dad’s 90th birthday with his whole family. He was in his glory! It was such a great celebration! Dad read Psalm 23 every day and entered into Heaven as his daughter read the scripture to him one last time. A special thanks to Dr. Smit for the care and attention he gave to Dad. There will be a private family graveside service. Any donations in Dad’s honour can be made to the Gospel Echoes Team Canada West.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Peter J Friesen 2020..
