After a long beautiful life and a short and merciful illness, Paul Power passed away surrounded by the love of his family and friends on February 27, 2020, aged 84 years.
Paul was predeceased by his parents Richard and Eileen Power, parents in-law Charlie and Mary MacLeod, his beloved siblings- Aloysius, Bernard, Thomas, Gerald, Peter, Edward, Gordon, Richard, Hilda, Mary, Mercedes and Lorraine, and too numerous other relatives and loved ones to mention them all, though all are missed and remembered.
He leaves to mourn his love of 55 years Colina; son Paul (Cathy); daughter Wanda (Terry Allen); the two more recent loves of his life, granddaughters Amber and Sarah; sister Stella Williams; brother Clarence (Violet); sisters in-law Helen Power, Elizabeth Power, Christina Everson, Helen Robichaud (Paul), Rick MacLeod (Cathy), and Ann-Marie Mahon (Rich). He is also leaving behind a massive number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and an infinite circle of friends and neighbours who he adored.
Paul was a firefighter: a special breed of human being willing to put themselves in harm’s way for the protection and safety of others, and he lived his entire life that way. He will be remembered as an active man, a lover of the outdoors and especially of being ‘in the woods’, and of caring for others. His presence leaves an indelible mark on those blessed to feel his love, and his family is so grateful for the lives they lived because of him.
A special thank-you to the staff at the Health Sciences Center- ICU and Unit 4 South B- for the kind and compassionate care provided during his short stay and for the empathy for his family.
Cremation has already taken place. Funeral mass will take place on Monday March 2, 2020, at 10 am from St. Michael’s Church- Flatrock. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Children’s Wish Foundation – www.childrenswish.ca/, as Paul so loved children.
