Peacefully with family by her side, at Chapman House Hospice, on Monday January 27, 2020, at the age of 71. Patti Belle, loving Mom of Tamara Sargent, and Eddie Sargent and his wife Erica. Proud Granny of Carson, Carmen, Kinley Belle, and honorary grandmother of Kael Van Dyke. Dear sister of Penny Sargent, and Pam and her husband Ted Aylan-Parker. Predeceased by her parents Eddie Sargent and Roma (nee McClean). The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Stanners, who was a constant source of support and knowledge, epitomizing what care and compassion should be in medicine. Additionally we would like to thank Dr. Barfoot and the staff at Chapman House, who gave Mom the honour and respect that all people deserve at the end of their lives.
Patti Belle was born in Owen Sound General and Marine Hospital to Eddie Sargent and Roma Sargent on November 28th, 1948. She went to school at OSCVI in Owen Sound. She Married Ernie Noble on December 26th, 1981, at Knox United Church in Owen Sound, the marriage was presided over by Reverend Passmore. Patti Belle graduated from the Recreation and Tourism program at Centennial College in Toronto. She worked as a Recreation Director for the Canadian National Institute for the Blind as her first job right out of college, in downtown Toronto. She went on to successfully work in insurance for a number of years, before beginning her work as a Travel Agent. She launched her own business named Sargent Travel and Cruises, which would evolve into her next big venture named Adopt a Cottage Rentals. She served as a City Councillor in Owen Sound, while also sitting on various boards and committees, such as the Grey Bruce Regional Tourism Board (President), and the Billy Bishop Regional Airport Authority. In her youth she was an avid horseback rider and was ranked in the top five nationally for show jumping.
Friends will be received at the Breckenridge-Ashcroft Funeral Home, 241 9th Street West, Owen Sound, on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9pm. A funeral service will be held on Saturday February 1, 2020, at 11am at Georgian Shores United Church, 997 4th Avenue East, Owen Sound. Interment Greenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Carson Sargent, John Ward, Peter Aylan-Parker, Trystan Halpert, Troy Downs, and Andrew Gardner. Memorial donations to G.R.A.C.E. – Georgian Riding Association for Challenged Equestrians, would be appreciated by the family.
