Patricia Patti Jean Clouston September 21st 2020

Patti was born in Vancouver on April 30, 1956 and was adopted by parents Laura and James Clouston (deceased) and brother Jim.
In her formative years Patti attended Tecumseh Elementary (the same school that her Father attended), then onto John Oliver High School and culminating in a degree in Food Services from Langara College. Through these years, Patti was an Honored Queen with Job’s daughters, a DeMolay Chapter Sweetheart, and active in the John Oliver social circles. Her best subject was coffee 101. She is a past member of the Eastern Star in her early years. These years instilled in her, an enthusiasm for participating in Service Organizations and for helping others.
Her career as a Food Services Supervisor took her to many venues. She started out at the Merritt Hospital, then moved on to Noric House in Vernon and then spent her final working life in the Drumheller Regional Hospital Organization until her retirement. Many accolades have been received from work colleagues about her fun and hard work ethic and the good personal relationships she developed through these years.
Through her working years, Patti was an avid baker making the best Christmas cakes ever, from her Grandmothers’ recipe. Patti and her good friends (they called her their “adopted little sister”) would get together and bake cookies for every occasion. She would take photos of the marvelous creations. Patti loved the holidays and she loved to decorate and would decorate her work location and her house for every major holiday having boxes of decorations as well as costumes to fit the occasion.
While working in Vernon, she played Women’s’ Slow-pitch Softball, Mixed Slow-pitch Softball for the Winers, Women’s Volleyball, and Mixed Volleyball. Great times were had at the game and afterwards at the Pub or BBQ.
Patti loved to travel and visited many areas of the world along with her good friends (friendships established while at college) as travelling companions. She would always bring back great stories of their adventures. She left her mark on Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, Costa Rica, Sedona, Ireland, and most of Europe.
Patti was an avid Canucks fan and an avid BC Lions fan and never missed a televised game, cheering them on despite their performance. She even made it to a few games in person.
Patti loved dogs and was the proud owner of Ruffles (deceased) and Molly, both toy poodles. Many hours were spent walking and playing with these two companions who provided love and support to her. She was heavily involved with the Dogguides associated with the Lions Foundation of Canada.
In her retirement, Patti moved to Armstrong BC to be near her brother Jim and sister in law Charlene. Patti gave back to the community once she settled in town and joined several service organizations. She was a member of the Armstrong Spallumcheen Museum and Arts Society, an enthusiastic Curler at the Curling Club, a member of the Armstrong Legion, a past member of the Armstrong Lions acting as their Secretary, and Secretary of the Strata Association where she lived. She was always willing to help as a working member of these organizations. She continued her baking prowess in Armstrong providing many treats to friends and family.
Patti was always interested in searching out her birth mother and was successful in meeting her before her mother’s passing (her birth father died prior to Patti’s birth). Patti learned that her heritage was of English Origin (both parents). Her grandparents on her mother’s side were from the Guernsey Channel Islands. In retirement, Patti sought out her other siblings through one of the Genealogy sites. She was successful, again, in finding many new relatives that she did not know she had. Prior to her passing, she was actively pursuing new friendships with her side of their families.
Patti is described by her family and friends as fun, witty, generous, community minded, always willing to help and take on any challenges. She developed many long-term friendships and kept in touch with them through personal contact and her Facebook page.
Patti is survived by her brother Jim and sisters in law Charlene Woodbury and Beverly Smith. She will be missed by her loving dog Molly, and her families and friends.
Donations in Patti’s memory may be made to “The Lions Foundation of Canada – Dogguides” at www.dogguides.com or the Charity of your choice.
A Celebration of life will be held in Patti’s memory in June of 2021 for family and close friends.
