Obituary
TAGSETH, Owen Kenneth
November 22, 1947 – July 4, 2020
Owen Kenneth Tagseth passed away peacefully on July 4, 2020. He was 72 years old. Owen is survived by his three children Patricia (Roberto) Ciarniello, Shannon Tagseth, Shawn Tagseth and five grandchildren Bradley, Anna, Brianna, Dylan, and Maya. He is also survived by his sister Gayle Johnson and her daughters Carmen Johnson and Jackie Hubick. Owen was born in 1947 in Strasburg Saskatchewan and was the son of Martin and Helen Tagseth.
Owen grew up in Bulyea Saskatchewan and eventually moved to Revelstoke, BC. In 1967 he married and then moved to Kelowna where he earned his carpentry certification. Owen worked in the construction industry and owned a successful construction contracting company for many years. His passion for his work and for providing for his family saw that he worked long hours. However, in his free time, he was able to enjoy life with his family by coaching and cheering for his kids baseball teams, fishing, boating, spending time at the summer cabin and skiing. As his children grew up and finished high school, he encouraged them to continue their studies at university and always offered his love and support. When his grandchildren started arriving, he always enjoyed their visits, holding them when they were little. As they started to grow into bundles of energy, he always kept a supply of toys for playing and candy in the fridge. In 2010 Owen moved to Nanaimo, BC to be closer to his children. He was able to visit local parks, celebrate holidays and birthdays, have many chats, scratch and spoil his favorite dogs Dandy and Leo, and enjoy his favorite breakfast at Smitty’s with his family. He watched his grandchildren grow and shared his love with them all. His couch was always available for a place to meet to chat and catch up.
Owen will be remembered for his strong determination and his love and pride for his family especially his grandchildren. Owen steadfastly cheered on the Saskatchewan Roughriders football team and loved to wear his baseball hat with the team logo. Owen was especially fond of chocolate cake and will be remembered for his sweet tooth! Owen loved country music and tapped his toes to every song.
Owen’s family would like to thank Dr Peytra Davies for her kind and compassionate care and the many health care heroes who contributed each day to bring joy to Owen’s life. Memorial donations in memory of Owen may be made to a charity of your choice.
A private memorial service will be held with immediate family at a later date to bring Owen home to his final resting place in Bulyea Saskatchewan.
