Mr. Mike Hoekstra
With heartfelt sadness, we announce the passing of Mike Hoekstra, 83 of Chatham, on March 6th, 2020, at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance. Mike passed with his loving wife and family by his side. Born in the Netherlands on July 12th, 1936, Mike came to Canada as a young boy in 1951. Son of the late John and Gertrude Hoekstra, Mike will be missed by his wife of almost 60 years (in August) Mary Edith, daughters Jennifer (Todd), Jacqueline, Janet (David), and Jonann (Gerry). Devoted and cherished grandfather of Mike, Mackenzie, Jessica, Emily, Trevor, Jared, Karrisa, Dillon and special angel grandson Mitchell. Beloved brother of the late Klaas (Elaine), John (Betty), Eddie (late Karen), and Agatha (late Brian). Also loved by many nieces and nephews. Mike and Mary enjoyed billeting several Chatham Maroon hockey players over the years and he looked forward to Sunday’s hockey games. Every June, Mike was excited to participate in the annual Sauble Masters golf tournament. Cremation has taken place. Please join the family for a celebration of life gathering on Saturday March 14th, 2020, at the Chatham Masonic Lodge, 430 Riverview Drive, Chatham, from 1 pm to 4 pm.
