« Micki » Dorothea N. Cageorge
1941-2020
Dorothea Noreen (Micki) Cageorge journeyed to Heaven on
Monday, December 7, in Charlottetown, PEI, aged 79 years. Beloved
mother to Sean (Jennifer) and Brynn (Wade) and Grammy/Gran to Chase,
Morgan, Dashiell, and Daegan.
Micki is lovingly remembered by her brother Frank (Lois),
sister Helen, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by
her parents Florence and Richard White, brother Rick, and sisters
Doreen and Trish.
Micki grew up in Hudson, Quebec, and worked as a flight
attendant for Canadian Pacific Air. She married Doug Cageorge in 1968,
welcoming Sean and Brynn in Montreal before the family moved out west
to Calgary in 1978.
During her time in Calgary, Micki worked as a legal
secretary, an educational assistant, a swim instructor, and personal
care aide for children with special needs. A devoted mother, Micki
supported her children in all their endeavours, including hockey,
skiing, lacrosse, field hockey, golf, and more. Micki enjoyed camping
in the summer and being a hockey and ski mom in the winter, spending
countless hours driving to and from the rink and the ski hill. In
1983, she was one of the founding organizers for the Crowchild
Challenge Minor Hockey Tournament, which is still held every year in
Calgary.
Micki liked music and art and enjoyed painting, cooking, and
playing the guitar. In 2008, she moved to Charlottetown and enjoyed
playing bridge with friends, taking classes at UPEI, golfing, and
spending time with friends and Brynn and her family. She enjoyed
family trips to Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Florida and to
visit Sean and his family in Calgary.
Micki loved her grandchildren very much and was happy to
regale her children of their antics when they were little when their
patience was running thin as parents. She was also much-loved by her
granddogs – who adored being spoiled by Gran when she came
to visit.
Our family would like to thank Micki’s friends who
provided support and kindness as her health declined over the past
year.
Due to current Covid-19 restrictions, no service is planned.
If friends so desire, memorial tributes can be made directly to the
Canadian Cancer Society.
