La célébration de
Michael Walski
15 septembre 1937 –
30 mai 2020
Michael (Michaś) died in his 83rd year of complications following a hip fracture, contracting COVID-19, and heart problems. Michael was the son of Jan and Gertruda Wytrzyszczewski who were forced from Poland after WWII and became Displaced Persons in Germany. The family emigrated to Canada in 1948 and it was through the hard work and many sacrifices of both parents that Michael and his sister Wiesława (Maria) were able to pursue higher education which ensured them a better life.
Michael is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Barbara (née Jaronik), daughters Mary Zein (Hassan) and Terri Walski, his grandchildren Ali and Juliet Zein, and his sister Wiesława Maria Zaremba (of Vancouver), as well as several nieces and nephews. He lived a simple, reflective life enlivened by singing in the St. Casimir’s church choir, cooking up the most delicious kotlety (hamburgers) on the BBQ, keeping home and garden tidy, and enjoying a good joke. His deep Catholic faith sustained him to the end. He was a good man who will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
The family wishes to thank the entire medical and Palliative Care Team at Etobicoke General Hospital for their compassionate care to Michael during these difficult pandemic conditions. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Turner and Porter, 2357 Bloor St. W., Toronto. A virtual Service will be held on Tuesday June 2, 2020 at 11am, please contact the funeral home for the link. Interment at Park Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to War Amps of Canada (Michael’s favorite charity). Condolences may be forwarded to www.turnerporter.ca
