Maude was predeceased by husband Thomas Grassie in 2006, parents Charles and Isabelle Smith, and all the Smith and Grassie siblings.
Mom was born in Rosetown, SK and was raised on the family farm outside of Elrose. She graduated grade 12, and later moved to Saskatoon in 1945 where she resided until the last three months of her life. One of her first employers was Scott National Fruit, and she retired from Impact Advertising in 1996 at 72 years; her favorite job, which she still reminisced about. She married Thomas Grassie on October 11, 1947.
Mom was a classy lady. She had a quick wink and an easy smile, enjoyed socializing, and walked to daily coffee breaks. Her door was always open, and her home was warm, welcoming and spotless. All remembered her favourite meals, delicious baking, and great coffee. Mom was always ready to lend a helping hand. She followed the news, never forgot her farm roots, and still played a keen game of Rummy. Over and above these qualities was the special place her family held in her heart. Mom radiated with love and pride when sharing stories about them and each time she visited with them. We all have wonderful memories to cherish and are so thankful for each year she was able to spend with us. We love you Mom, Grandma, and GG. Rest Easy. Your legacy will live on in us.
A Celebration of Maude’s Life will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Saskatoon Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the St. Paul’s Hospital Close to Home Campaign or a charity of your choice.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Maude
