Obituary
Maud (Duggan) Greening:
Passed away peacefully on May 10, 2020, after a short illness, Maud Mary (Duggan) Greening, age 86 years. Born April 23, 1934 in St. Joseph’s St. Mary’s Bay to William and Ellen Duggan. Predeceased by her husband of 32 years, Ed Greening, (May 10, 2016). Maud was predeceased by her siblings and in-laws Peter, Phonse, Tony and John (Jack) and Laura Duggan and Nancy and Mike Dunn, Peter Gregory, and Ed’s sisters Dora Yetman and Lilly Marshall. We are left with fond and fun- loving memories of a wonderful sister and sister-in-law; special stepmother/grandmother; aunt, great aunt and great-great aunt, and life-long friend to many. She is survived by her sister Catherine Gregory and sister-in-law Nora Duggan; her Greening Family: Verna, Beverly, Gail, David, Heather, Bruce and their families; nieces and nephews: Wallace, Randy, Elizabeth, Tim, Janet, Mary, Conrad, Leone, Norah, Peter, Susan, Kerry, Lisa, Michael, Marilyn, David, Sandra, Janice, Barb, Glen and Lesley and their families. Her very special Porter family, Lisa and Gerry (deceased) and their families. Nothing gave Maud more joy then spending time with her step- grandchildren, step great- grandchildren, great nieces and nephews and great-great nephews who she loved dearly. Maud enjoyed her 35-year career as an elementary school teacher. She taught in communities of O’Donnell’s and Mt. Carmel and then moved to St, John’s teaching at Mary Queen of the World, St. Patrick’s and Holy Cross Schools. She met many former students over the years who always remembered her for her kindness and fun. Maud loved to read, recite poetry, listen to music, dance and always enjoyed a “time” with friends and family. Maud and Ed enjoyed many years at their cabin in Ocean Pond and their home in Conception Bay, raising ducks and gardening (well Ed did the gardening!). She held her home community of St. Joseph’s close to her heart and spent much of her time visiting with her family and friends there, watching the sea roll in. The past years since Ed’s death Maud moved to Tiffany Village where she met new friends and enjoyed an active life. The family would like to express sincere thanks to all who supported Maud through their kindness and friendship, especially over the last number of years. She thoroughly enjoyed her lunches and outings with her teaching friends, her chats with her card buddies, trips to St. Joseph’s for the weekend with Augusta and Martin, meals and drives with Richard and Barbara. Thanks to the staff at Tiffany Village and her friends there, especially Bernice Janes. All who knew her enjoyed her company and she theirs. In these unusual times for the safety of all there will be no visitation. Funeral arrangements through Barrett’s Funeral home. In leu of flowers, donations can be made to the Good Shepherd Parish P.O. Box 30, St. Joseph’s, NL, A0B 3A0 or visit www.gsparish.ca . A virtual funeral will take place on Thursday, may 14, 2020 at 1:00p.m. Log in details will be posted to our site.
