KRATCHMER: Matthew. December 15, 1926 – December 18, 2020. Matthew will forever be remembered by his four children and their spouses: son Keith, son Terry (Vicky) – children Theresa, Stefan and Terri Ann, son Daryl (Mary) – children Mark and Jocelyn, son Glenn (Colleen) – children Mandy and Cody, Kristen and Kelsey; 11 great-grandchildren; siblings Jim (Olga), Simon and Peter. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Norma, of 65 years, his parents Joseph and Mary Kratchmer, sisters Pauline and Madeline, brothers Adam and Leo and granddaughter Amy Kratchmer.
Matthew grew up on the farm near Reward, SK and married Norma (nee Kirchgessner) in October, 1953. They raised a family and farmed in the Reward area. Matthew also operated a bulk fuel depot, custom cat work and grain cleaning. The family moved to Battleford in 1972 where he continued to farm in the Reward area and operated a used car business in North Battleford. Matthew and Norma loved to host family get-togethers and visit friends for card games. They moved into Luther Heights in Saskatoon in 2009 and later resided in Samaritan Place until Norma’s passing in 2019 after which time he moved into Trinity Manor. Matthew had a deep faith and was a major supporter of his church and a Fourth Degree life long member of the Knights of Columbus. He passed peacefully on December 18, 2020 at St. Paul’s Hospital Palliative Care Unit. A Private Family Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday December 30, 2020 at St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church In Unity, SK with Fr. Gregory Roth as the Celebrant.
