Obituary
Passed away at Westlock Continuing Care. Born at Pickardville where she resided on farms until the loss of her husband Robert (Scottie) Beveridge. Born to Christina (Sutherland) and Fred Deschamps; siblings, Lillian (McKee), Earl (Bud), Howard, Ernest (passed as an infant). Raised a family of Bob, Wayne, Sheila, Hazel, David and Jim. Predeceased by parents, Scottie, Sheila, Bud, Lilly, Howard and Ernest. Her passions were her family, 18 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren. Her interests were recognized as a prolific gardener, avid lover of flowers, loved birds, fiercely independent and feisty, never known to mince words and called things as she saw them. She had countless life long friends and while younger worked tirelessly on the farm. She was proud of living in her own house until near 90 and was distraught at no longer driving “the seniors” for daily afternoon coffee. Never a complainer, only answered if asked how she was feeling, if poorly was “so so”. She loved live entertainment and cherished each presentation of the “Westlock Opry.” From her early thirties until her early fifties she had endured severe arthritic deformation in her hands and limited endurance walking. Mary never got a drivers license until her early fifties, never had electricity or a telephone until her mid fifties, a 17” black and white TV came a few years later. The changes in life experienced by her could never be imagined by today’s youth. Many thanks to Westlock Senior Care Staff and Pembina Lodge. A Private Family Service will be held at the graveside where she will join loved ones, family and friends eternally.
