MARINO TED SMITH
May 28, 1966 – May 27, 2020
(Marino) Ted suddenly and unexpectedly passed away in his home, with his wife by his side on Wednesday, May 27, 2020 in East St. Paul, the day before his 54th birthday.
Ted will be best remembered as a family man who dearly and deeply loved and protected his children and wife. He carried and shared great pride for his family.
As a child, Ted’s family moved back and forth from Winnipeg to rural Manitoba. He spent much time working on farms. As he grew into an adult, this love was expressed in watching farm shows and maintaining his own property. Ted loved sports his entire life and competitively played and coached rugby. Intensity does not quite capture his competitive nature. He was a great motivator for his girls and wife in their athletic pursuits as he passed his love of competing on to them. He became heavily involved in the hockey world where he saw his girls excel. Ted used this intensity in all areas of life, yard/farm work, cycling, in his career and even on family trips – always a plan and goal to achieve. A Christian man, he valued people and they felt it. His infectious smile would be followed with quick wit and laughter wherever he went.
He leaves to mourn his passing, wife Shannon of 21 years, daughters Madisyn (16), Morgan (14), his mom Linda, 3 siblings Angie (Roger), Dean, Shannon (Dan), mother-in-law Ricki Ploegman, Sister-in-law Angie (Suresh), Brother-in-laws Kevin (Christy) and Nolan (Rachel) and numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and many friends. He was predeceased by his father, Ted Smith in 2015 and his father-in-law Peter Ploegman in 2019.
A Celebration of Life has been planned for Tuesday, June 9th @ 1 pm.

Info: Due to current restrictions on public gatherings, the reception will be held outdoors (rain tent if needed) and restricted to staggered time slots of no more than 50 people at the same time. Please RSVP to the email address provided above with the names / number of people who will be attending and with any time preference between 3:00pm and 6:00pm. You will receive an email reply no later than Monday June 8th, 9:00pm advising you of your time slot and also confirming the address. All distancing and health protocols will be followed for the reception. We will do our best to accommodate everyone as much as possible – thank you in advance for understanding.
