Maria Kowalski
1936-2020
Passed away peacefully in her sleep at
the Oromocto Public Hospital surrounded by her family on February
27th, 2020. Born on July 4th, 1936, she was the daughter of the late
Mary (Mazer) and John Tkachuk and was the devoted wife of the late
Allan Dwight Kowalski.
Maria leaves behind her children; Lyn
Tidd (Steve Hastings), Richard Kowalski (Kathy), the late Tammy
McClure (Kenneth), Trina Kowalski, Kimberly Heather (Eugene).
Grandchildren; Barry Tidd (Michelle), Nicole Favreau (Olivier),
Tiffany Tidd, Monique Mac Clure-Beldjarou (Yacine), Luke Kowalski,
Jordan Heather (Penny), Paige Kowalski, Nathan Heather (Billie-Jo),
Daniel Kowalski, and Brieanna Heather; Great Grandchildren Griffin
Bateman (Mimi), Taylor Tidd, Desiree Bateman, Matthew Tidd, Ethen
Tidd, Addison Favreau, Teagan Tidd, and Madilyn Rose Harnish-Heather.
Maria was soon to achieve the title of Great Grandmother. She will be
greatly missed by her sister Anne. In addition to her parents and
daughter Tammy, Maria is predeceased by her brothers Nick Tkachuk, and
Bill Tkachuk. Her extended family and friends will greatly mourn her
loss.
Maria was the foundation of her
family. She met the love of her life Allan and got married at 17. Soon
after, they began having children. Maria was so supportive of Allan
and his career in the military; she always stuck by his side through
every move and every deployment. Those who knew Maria would describe
her as a happy, positive, kindhearted person who always saw the best
in all things. Maria worked at Freddy’s Restaurant before
working at the Oromocto Kentucky Fried Chicken where she began as a
cook and, in time, was promoted to a management
position.
She was a hard worker but always
remained humble in all that she did. When Allan fell ill, she was
right by his side, her devotion to him through his years of illness
was an inspiration to all. Their marriage was a true testament to the
saying « in sickness and in health ». As a mother, Maria was
dedicated to being there for her children; they were her pride and
joy. Maria continued with her love and support as a grandmother, and,
when in doubt, there was nothing that space pops, ice cream, or a
little painting lesson couldn’t fix. She was the best
grandmother and great-grandmother you could ask for and she will be
greatly missed by all.
At the family’s request,
there will be no formal services at this time.
