Obituary
Peacefully, on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at the Muskoka Shores Care Community, Gravenhurst in her 102nd year.
Born and raised in Bracebridge, Ontario, Grace was the daughter of the late Robert S. Taylor and Lillian Taylor (née Cox). Grace was predeceased by her three brothers: Clarence ‘Bus’ Taylor, Lorne Taylor and Allan Taylor and her sister, Ruth Taylor (née Thompson). Beloved wife of the late Alton Gibbs and cherished mother of Paul and Don Gibbs. She will be lovingly remembered by her nieces Sharon Taylor, Linda (Jim) Fanning, Crystal Poirier, Bonnie Gibbs, Steve Gibbs, Clifford Gibbs, Shelly Gibbs (Luke) and Randy Gibbs.
Grace was a hardworking and loving mother who devoted herself to her family. She was an avid gardener and, if she were not in the house baking, she could be found outside in her garden planting flowers or simply enjoying the sights and sounds of the nature around her. In earlier years, Grace was a Sunday school teacher at Holy Cross Church, Bracebridge in the 1950’s and later she had started working for the township of McAuley in an office her late husband Alton built inside their home in Bracebridge. When the township amalgamated, she then worked as an office clerk for the Town of Bracebridge. She campaigned for twenty-plus years for the Canadian Cancer Society a charity in which was very important to her.
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Grace’s Life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Grace’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society www.cancer.ca/ or to a charity of your choice.
