Mae Hart
1942-2020
Hart, Alexina « Mae » (Cameron), age 78
formerly of Beauly, St. Andrews and residing in New France,
Heatherton, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2020, in St.
Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish.
Born in Antigonish, she was a daughter of the late Allan and
Florence Cameron.
Mae was a very strong woman, and she passed that strength on
to all six of her children. She was truly an exceptional
mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She worked as a
waitress at Gentlemen Jim’s in her younger years. As her
children grew up, she took on the responsibility of providing home
care for the elderly and volunteering with school lunch
programs. After her children had all grown, she moved to
Ottawa to live with her daughter, Margie, and did absolutely nothing
and had a great time doing it. For the past 17 years she has
been living with her daughter Judy (and « Roddy ») and
did the exact same thing. Mae was most famous for her
homemade bread, rolls and stews, and for her love and hate of
bingo.
She is survived by her children, Terry (Pam), South Side
Harbour; Judy (Rodney), New France; Margie (Perry), Ottawa; Allan,
Antigonish; Sheila (Steven), New France; and Crystal, Antigonish, and
their father, Eddie; grandchildren, Holly, Cole, Scott, Ryan, Skylar,
Mary, Bo, and T.J.; great-grandchildren, Alexis, Willow, Brogan,
Matthew, and Cheyanna; siblings, Hughie (Myrna), Rose, Shirley
(Ralph), and Lawrence (Juanita), and many nieces and
nephews.
Predeceased by her brother, Kenneth, and aunts and
uncles.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held
Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm in C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135
College Street, Antigonish. Social distancing protocols must
be followed, and masks are mandatory. Funeral will be held
Saturday at 11:00am in St. Andrews Church, St. Andrews. The
funeral will be recorded and viewable on the funeral home website
later in the day.
Burial to follow in the parish cemetery.
In Memoriam, donations to Antigonish Food Bank
appreciated. Online condolences and full COVID-19
