Obituary of Loretta Eleanor Greenlaw
It is with heartfelt sorrow, the family of Loretta Eleanor Greenlaw, wife of the late Raymond Greenlaw, announce her passing on Sunday, December 20, 2020 at Kings Way Care Centre, Quispamsis, NB.
Born on September 17, 1926 in Oak Point, NB, she was a daughter of the late Ira and Eadie (Hamilton) Jones. Loretta worked at Dominion Store as a manager for several years until her retirement.
In her teens, Loretta had scarlet fever. Her mother lovingly took care of her, putting her bed by the window for her to see outside. During her illness, she and her mother would cut cotton into pieces and hand stitched a quilt together. Loretta, to this day still cherishes this quilt. She was a perfectionist when it came to knitting, crocheting, afghans, sweaters, baby outfits and baby blankets.
Always, a hard worker, especially around the house. From hanging wallpaper, painting and laying carpet, but her first priority was her family especially her grandchildren. They always had a way to put a smile on her face. Loretta’s gardens were always beautiful, catching the attention of people driving by and garden magazines. As she got older and married Ray, they would enjoy their travels to Ontario or Prince Edward Island in their motor home. Loretta would always be the one in the driver side.
She was well known for her baking; cakes, squares, and cookies. Guests and family would never go without sweets or a cup of tea or coffee when visiting, no matter what time it was. The grandchildren were always well fed and all the treats would come out when they arrived, but one grandchild was always told, “Danny, you are not having dessert until you eat your dinner.”
Survived by her loving daughters; Arlene Hysert of ON, and Diane Dobbin (Rob) of Quispamsis, NB, Marilyn Goulding of ON., (Niece). Grandchildren; Jennifer Cooley (William), Elizabeth Rideout ( Dave), Melanie Greenlaw (David), Leanne Hysert, Ashley Nickerson, Raymond Greenlaw (Jihye), David Hysert, and Danny Nickerson (Jessica), as well as 12 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family. Loretta will be deeply missed.
Besides her husband and parents, Loretta is predeceased by her sons Blaine and Gary, son-in-law Bob Hysert, sister Rita Reid & brother-in-law, Roy Reid and brother Norman Jones.
We would like to thank all the staff of Kingsway Care Center for the wonderful care of our mother. Lots of laughter, hugs, love & chocolate. Thank you from all of us.
