Lloyd Masur, a well-known citizen of Nokomis, SK, passed away peacefully in his sleep on the morning of Sunday, August 23, 2020 with his children by his side. He was residing at the Stonebridge Retirement Home in Saskatoon and had succumbed to a brief battle with cancer but suffered very little in the end.
Lloyd’s parents immigrated from Russia in 1926 making Nokomis their home. Lloyd was born and raised in Nokomis and earned his living as a lifelong farmer until his retirement. He married Judy Sharp of Shaunavon, SK on December 19, 1964. They were blessed with two children, Bruce (Elaine) and Joan (Shree) and four grandchildren, Harrison & Sophia Masur and Bryn & Eve Bhalerao.
Lloyd is survived by his wife Judy Masur, his children and grandchildren. He is predeceased by his parents David & Adina Masur and sisters Alice Falkenberg and Mildred Allison.
An active member in the community and surrounding area, Lloyd served on various boards including the Nokomis Hospital & Nokomis Credit Union. He enjoyed participating in many sports throughout his life, most notably hockey, both playing and coaching. He often reminisced about his teammates and the success of the Provincial Championship hockey teams of the Seamans Wheat Kings in the 1950’s, speaking with some of those teammates right up until his death. Most of all, Lloyd will be remembered fondly as a devoted husband, father and friend.
Lloyd had wanted to say a special thank you to all his friends in Nokomis and area for their help and support throughout the last numbers of years. It truly made his life a little easier.
At this time there will be no Funeral Service, but instead a Memorial will be planned for Lloyd in Nokomis at sometime in the future so that his many friends and family can share stories and fond memories.
