Obituary
Linda Campbell
Little Bras d’Or/Sydney Mines
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Linda Campbell, age 70, loving mom, nana, sister, aunt, and friend on Thursday, December 17, 2020, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Linda was born in North Sydney and raised on the old Gannon Road where she met her husband, Gerald Campbell. She was the daughter of the late Roy and Eileen (Schofield) Boutilier. She was a devoted member of the St. Joseph’s Catholic Parish in Little Bras d’Or. Linda lived for her family, friends, and faith.
Even at 70, Linda was an absolute dynamo. Her energy and quick humour were obvious to anyone she talked to, and that list is long – there wasn’t a store clerk, gas attendant, friend, or stranger that Linda didn’t have time for. She was a champion for the underdog, and the bane of anyone putting on airs.
Right now, it’s easy to imagine Linda giving an earful to Saint Peter. She’s making it very clear that, after all the difficult and dangerous surgeries she’s endured, she’s not one bit happy about leaving this world days before Christmas, in the middle of a pandemic that’s prevented many of her friends and loved ones from being there. She deserved better.
Linda is survived by her two children, Paul (Margaret MacSween) of Guelph, ON, and Gina (Vance) Jessome of Rusagonis, NB; by her grandchildren Phoenix and Riel Jessome, and Lachlan, Theo, and Cormac Campbell. Also surviving are her four brothers, Keith (Gloria) Boutilier, Glenn Boutilier, Clayton (Paula) Boutilier, Peter (Corinne) Boutilier and by many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Gerald Campbell, two brothers, David and Robert Boutilier; Sisters-in-law, Lorraine, Gloria, Carol Boutilier, and by her niece Amy Boutilier.
In accordance with Linda’s wishes, there will be no visitation. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a funeral mass will be celebrated at a later date when all the family can be present. Burial will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney.
Memorial donations may be made to the St. Joseph’s Catholic Parish.
Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney.
